Yesterday’s dive at Port Hacking was a harsh welcome to winter, with 16°C water chilling us to the bone. This slow drift dive is done around the high tide, so there’s very little movement to warm the body.
Situated around the corner from Cronulla, 45mins south of Sydney, an abundance of sea-life is spread along a natural wall that drops to 16metres.

Dreamy conditions during a recent sunrise photo workshop, when fog settled over Sydney Harbour. There wasn’t even a whisper of wind and it was too early for rowers, so we had mirror-like reflections.

Sydney streets on a rainy Monday night.
A friend and I set ourselves a challenge recently to use a single, compact lens with a fixed focal length on a photo walk, meaning we had no ability to zoom in or out. I had to embrace stepping out in the rain to change my composition.
There were a few slips, foggy glasses, lots of laughs, and a close call or two with e-bike riders. Such a fun, creative way to spend a weeknight!

Yesterday I took a road trip with six photographer friends to capture the vibrant colours of Autumn at Blackheath and Leura. We all came from different photography backgrounds… landscape, wildlife, street, and portrait… but we came together to share knowledge, ideas, and lots of laughs.

How to accidentally annoy an octopus… calmly approach it and stick out your hand to say hello.
Octopuses are quite easy to spot underwater due to their bright white eyes. This tiny fellow… no bigger than my palm… did not like being approached. Instead of hiding, he burst out of his hole and puffed himself up.
I’ve never noticed an octopus’s eyes change colour before, only their skin. It’s a little eerie!

Sunset over the northern end of Maroubra Beach 🌄

"I live in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and work as an Executive Assistant. Photography has become my passion and I shoot mostly landscapes, seascapes and street as a hobby whenever I have free time. I’m also a keen scuba diver and shoot underwater with an OM TG7.

I started shooting on film for fun in the 90’s, moving to digital in 2007. I was self-taught but did a short online course in 2020 to learn the core skills and techniques.

I took this photo after the recent monster waves pulled a lot of sand off Maroubra Beach and exposed the bedrock. I raced down there when the forecast and building cloud-cover showed promise of a banger sunset. I got close to the water’s edge and faced back towards the beach, leaning down to capture the reflections in the rock pools as the sky lit up.

Captured on my Canon R5 with a Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 lens."

Very honoured to have one of my photos picked in a small exhibition held today by the Australian Creative Collective. This group supports photographers to grow in their craft and raises money for charity through workshops. I’ve connected with so many wonderful people to learn new skills.
