A couple of shots from a wild storm we had at Swan Hill on Thursday. The first one was taken just before I was hit with 130km/hr winds. The last two are the aftermath, showing the immense scale of the cell.

Here's another shot from my hiking expedition in the Grampians. This is looking south from the Major Mitchell plateau, all the way to Mt Abrupt at the southern end of the Serra Range.

Just finished the three day Major Mitchell Plateau loop hike in the Grampians. I've been a day-hiker only up until now, but decided during the lockdowns to start collecting all the lightweight gear I need to do multi-day walks, and this was my first chance to try it all out.
The walk itself was pretty tough, including some rather brutal descents and rock scrambling climbs made even tougher by the extra weight of my hiking pack, camera gear, food and a couple of days worth of water. I ended up starting out with more water than I needed as it turned out I could have collected and filtered water at first night's camp site (I knew there would be water at night two camp), but it's been dry and you can't take any chances. It would have been real nice to have carried a few litres less of that heavy stuff.
Anyway, despite being slightly nervous at first I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, even though the walking at times seemed never-ending. With an extra few km's detour added due to work on the new Grand Peaks Trail, my GPS watch tells me I covered a little over 50 kms during the three days, a good portion of that over some pretty rough terrain. Tough but fun!

This panorama shows one of the fantastic views from the high point of the plateau. This is looking north, with the Serra range on the left and Mount William on the right. Halls Gap is just beyond the reservoir you can see dead centre of picture.
