Hello I'm James, a passionate and popular photographer based in Australia, renowned for my stunning landscape and sur

f photography. I am also an artist, adventurer, and storyteller, driven by an unyielding love for nature and a deep desire to freeze awe-inspiring moments in time through the lens of my camera. Originating from the picturesque landscapes of Australia, my journey as a photographer began with a deep appreciation for the raw beauty that surrounds us. From the sun-kissed beaches of the vibrant Gold Coast, where the rhythmic waves serenade the shoreline, to the lush, mystical rainforests of Lamington National Park, every frame captures the essence of Australia's diverse and enchanting natural wonders. The Gold Coast's beaches, with their glistening golden sands and crystal-clear waters, embody the very spirit of relaxation and adventure. They beckon surfers and sun-seekers alike, offering a playground of endless joy and rejuvenation. Each wave that crashes ashore brings a sense of serenity and bliss that is simply unparalleled. Venturing into the heart of Lamington National Park, where ancient trees reach for the sky and an emerald canopy creates an ethereal world, I immerse myself in the verdant lushness of the rainforests. Here, amidst the calls of vibrant birdlife and the gentle whisper of leaves, I find inspiration at every turn. The dense foliage reveals hidden treasures and a symphony of colors that dance harmoniously with the changing light. But beyond the coastal beauty and rainforest wonder lies the raw, untamed spirit of the Australian outback. A sunburnt country, as Dorothea Mackellar once eloquently described it, with sweeping plains and ragged mountain ranges. The outback can be both harsh and hauntingly beautiful, a land of rugged resilience that has weathered the tests of time. It speaks of a history that is as rich and varied as the vibrant colors that paint the horizon during the dramatic sunsets. As a photographer, I am drawn to these diverse landscapes that embody the essence of Australia's soul. Through my lens, I strive to capture the spirit of each location and share its story with the world. Whether it's the crashing waves, the ancient rainforest trails, or the expansive outback vistas, each image reveals a piece of Australia's unique identity. To explore my portfolio and bring the magic of these breathtaking moments into your home or workplace, visit my website [being updated] Whether you're looking for a stunning landscape print, a surf-inspired masterpiece, or an architectural gem, each purchase not only adds beauty to your space but also supports my continued efforts to capture the beauty of Australia and raise awareness about environmental conservation. My work has been featured in numerous publications and art galleries, and I've been fortunate to work with well-known brands that align with my values of sustainability and environmental conservation. When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me exploring new locations, immersing myself in nature, and seeking out the next breathtaking vista. I firmly believe that nature has an incredible ability to heal, and it's my hope that my photography instills a sense of awe and appreciation for our planet's splendor. Thank you for joining me on this photographic journey, where we celebrate the beauty of Australia's landscapes and surf together. Photograpy services:

I found this near a storm drain where people had clearly been living. Among the debris was a mattress, a cigarette packet and a children’s book titled Little People, Big Dreams.

It stopped me.

Who was here? Where were they on their life journey? Had this book been used as bedtime story? I hoped they had found somewhere safer , more comfortable and the abandoned book did not symbolise abandoned dreams.

After capturing Cannon Creek Community Hall and on the way to Killarney I took a small detour, Charlie’s Hut is one of my favourite locations. Weathered timber, a rusted roof, and a stillness that feels like it’s holding stories in its grain.

And it wasn’t a quick “pull over and shoot.” I waited watching the clouds slide and the sun shift until the light landed in just the right place and the shadows fell where I needed them.

Local history around Carney’s Creek often links this hut with “Charlie Curtis”, including references connected with the early local post office.

Yin and yang. 🌊⛰️
I live for surf and seascapes — salt, wind, and horizon — but the Scenic Rim and hinterland give me balance. A different kind of beauty: big sky, unfenced cattle, dirt roads, and those breath-taking mountains rolling into rainforest.

Today’s mission was simple: drive Boonah → Killarney and on the way find the old community hall on Cannon Creek Rd. No crowds. No noise. Just the feeling that you’re driving through someone else’s history.

I shot it in a painterly style on purpose — softer, quieter — because places like this aren’t just timber and rust. They’re love found, friends made, and memories stitched together at dances this hall was once renowned for.

Some buildings don’t need people in the frame to feel alive.

Storm light does something honest to old places.

This house has been standing out here long enough to stop pretending. The boards are silvered, the roof is tired, the paddock is quiet — and then the sky arrives and turns the whole scene into a mood you can almost hear. No drama added. Just weather, time, and whatever was left behind.

I love how black and white strips it back to structure and feeling: the pull of the clouds, the weight of the trees, the small stubborn geometry of the hut holding its ground.

I always wonder what life stories continue to echo in the walls of old homes like this.

Day 1 — 30 Days, One Camera, One Lens.
Sony A7C II + 35mm f/1.8.

I’m stripping things back this month — one focal length, one body, and a simple aim: look for stories, not shots.
Slow down. Pay attention. Let the world reveal what’s already there.

Today it gave me this:
A single poppy tied to cold iron…
and a wall of names caught in late-afternoon light.
In the quiet of the Shrine of Remembrance, two scenes telling moving stories without a sound.
