Mount Coolumed - March 5th, 4.57pm

I shot this with the long lens 200-600 from the park at Alex Headland as the swell peaked from Cyclone Alfred peaked and the sun was setting, there was this crazy back lit light that really was lighting up the face of the waves for 10mins. The majority of the crowds were watching surfers at the bluff and alex lefts, i was shooting up the beach capturing some mental waves that were breaking from Alex surf club to Maroochy surf club. I love shooting with a longer lens as it compresses the background, in this shot its Mt Coolum in the background.

I have called this Mt Coolumed as it's a saying all the local golfers say once you get some bad break on the course at Mt Coolum. This was actually a good break for me as it's one of my all time favourite shots and ill be printing this up for myself at home. The wave was probably close to 10-15ft faces, hard to tell as it was too hard to get out the back that afternoon.

Firestarter - Feb 21, 2021 6.15pm

There was 2-3 foot of swell and a light NW winds so i decided to drive down to kings beach on a Sunday afternoon to shoot some shots with my mate Mitchell Rolley-Barnes as I was just learning my camera and playing around with my settings when I took this shot.
Settings were 1/25th of a second so you slow down time and able to create movement if you nail the shot which happens if you lucky one in 10 times. I got lucky on this shot or created my own luck being there and I was pretty impressed with the result. The sun was 10-15 mins from setting so pretty low in on the horizon and this wave came in and pretty much flared up with the setting sun over the river mouth at happy valley to my right. This shot is the bank one across from the kings beach groin towards happy valley.

Mad shot this one, not much else to say.

Cyclone Seth was a low pressure system travelled for 15 days that had every surfer closely tracking it in the hope of whipping up some huge swells and that it did. Seth started in Indonesia and travelled south of Darwin before heading east straight through Cairns before intensifying as a Category 2 Cyclone in the Coral Sea and heading south and smashing into the Bundaberg region and fizzling out.

As it was approaching the surf on the sunshine coast pumped for a few days and there was only a handful of surf breaks on the sunshine coast that could handle the swell and Cheese at Mooloolaba was one of the places that loves a cyclone swell and south winds.

This morning there were more surfers watching from the shore rather than paddling to catch a wave, it was pretty wild with huge waves, crazy winds and rain storms every 20 mins.

I like the perfect bridge like the closeout breaking below the iconic Point Cartwright water tower and light house in the background as well as the moody clouds that were fast moving.

Have sold a lot of these !
