Of all the photos I took at , this is the first one I wanted to post that I felt captured the essence of what was witnessed and experienced.

Let me start by saying I’m not a nature photographer. I don’t have any special equipment and I’ve never been particularly drawn to photographing anything other than people. This photo was taken on the third and final day. A day where I found myself finally surrendering and taking my time, rather than rushing from one activity to another. I was actually on my way to a breathwork session when I stopped to take a photo of the tonic bar . They had made me a delicious cacao so I stopped to enjoy it and while sipping, I looked up and saw this. A caterpillar, mid-air, spinning a cocoon. I’d never seen a caterpillar in the air, only ever on the ground. And here I was, on the third day of a transformational weekend, watching the physical form of what so many of us experienced this weekend.
I couldn’t focus on it at first, my camera kept trying to take a photo of the tent behind it. But with calmness and perseverance, I caught this magical shot.

I’m looking forward to delving into my camera roll and highlight the beautiful people I captured, emerging from their cocoons and opening their wings 🦋
