took my time with a pour over and forgot what stress felt like for a minute

tucked away at the back of Albion Fine Trades · specialty roaster doing things properly · black coffee made well is genuinely like a fine wine and this place gets it

☕ Single Origin Pour Over · rotating single origins, served with the full pour over experience · been ages since i ordered one and this was a proper reminder of why i should do it more often
🥩 Pork Brioche Roll · Chinese pork fillet, green goddess, chilli, asian coleslaw · essentially thicc char siu in a fluffy brioche with all the right stuff · one of those bites you think about on the drive home
🍪 Peanut Butter Cookie · filled, crumbly, dangerous · peanut butter is my weakness and this did not help
🐾 Biscuit · oat milk pup cup · allowed inside · the best

🍔 Miel Beef · the classic · beef, bacon, onion jam, tomato jam, dill mayo · clean and very easy to finish
🍗 Shanghai Fried Chicken · big fried chicken, tasty cheese, spicy house sauce · the berry sauce situation on top is doing a lot of good work
🍖 BBQ Riblets · glazed riblets over seasoned wedges with cheese and spring onion · sticky, saucy, dangerous

small local café run by a husband and wife team · dog friendly deck, big menu energy, and the kind of place that's clearly been feeding the neighbourhood for years

🍳 Mexican Scrambled Eggs · chimichurri, charred corn, fresh chilli, chipotle mayo on grilled pita · nice heat, great presentation, very easy to finish
☕ Two Minds · one flat white + one iced batch brew · $10 for both is genuinely good value · the iced batch was oddly sweet but got the job done
🐾 Biscuit · oat milk pup cup · zero complaints, very satisfied customer

the specials board had a Biscuit & Gravy Benny that i am still thinking about · maple bacon, duck fat potatoes, poached eggs on a toasted scone with hollandaise and gravy · i will be back for that

the kind of place where the menu is vast, the tables are full on a weeknight, and the regulars clearly know something you don't · book ahead, bring cash for the discount, and come hungry

🦐 Signature Pan Fried Whole Prawn with Vermicelli Claypot · glass noodles soaking up all that prawn flavour · dangerous
🍗 Steamed Chicken with Chinese Sausage · classic cantonese comfort, rich and savoury
🐚 Baby Abalone · delicate, tender, felt very fancy for a Tuesday
🥚 Steamed Egg with Shrimp · silky smooth with plump shrimp throughout · highlight of the night, not even close
🥩 Black Pepper Dice Steak · punchy, juicy, very easy to finish

the cult newstead breakfast spot has finally made it to the city and my morning routine will never be the same · one street from the office is genuinely dangerous information to have

🍗 Nashville Chicken Burger · off menu special · nashville buttermilk fried chicken, american cheese, ranch, pickles · crispy, saucy, absolutely no notes
🥔 Chicken Salt Hashbrown · the essential side · don't even think about skipping it

the branding is doing a lot of heavy lifting and the food backs it up · grab and go format means it's built perfectly for the city crowd · the kitchen is apparently double the size of newstead so they mean business
stay golden indeed 🌟

no instagram presence, no marketing ... just a tiny spot on Merivale Street, connected to Ivy & Eve Apartments, doing things properly.

what we had 👇

🫓 Chinese Pork Burger 肉夹馍 · slow braised pork packed into a fluffy steamed bun · simple and absolutely worth it
🫓 Egg, Ham & Bean Sprout Burger 爆炒馍 · the chaotic younger sibling · messy, crunchy, somehow even better
🥢 Spicy Beef & Fresh Lettuce Noodle 牛肉拌面 · hand-pulled, saucy, tender beef chunks · that noodle lift says everything. weird with the lettuce, but I liked it.
🥢 SiXi Cold Noodles 四喜凉皮 · wide skin noodles with tofu and bean sprouts · lighter but just as addictive

the kind of place that deserves a much longer queue than it has.

- crispy, sticky, absolutely unhinged in the best way ... highlight of the night
🥢 Black Bean Sauce Noodle 짜장면
- dark, glossy, deeply savoury ... the kind of bowl that makes you go quiet mid-meal
🍖 Sweet and Sour Pork 탕수육
- classic for a reason, the flag says it all
🍲 Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup 해물짬뽕
- fiery red broth, flat noodles, proper heat

the jajangmyeon and the garlic chicken together is the move

no instagram, no hype machine ... just genuinely great food that lets the chili do the talking 🌶️🔥

🌏 Shop 3/70 Pinelands Rd, Sunnybank Hills

we rocked up without a booking, waited briefly and landed at a long share table which honestly made the night. The food takes a while since everything is made fresh to order, but that's exactly the point... sit back, order a drink, and let it come.

what we had 👇
🐟 Spicy and Numb Snakehead Fish Fillet
- swimming in chili oil, absolutely delicious
🦑 Sizzling Plate Street-Style Squid Tentacles - charred, spicy, dangerous to share
🥦 Dry Pot Caulilini with Pork Mince
- the underdog of the night, genuinely addictive
🐄 Hunan Yellow Pepper Beef with Coriander Stir-Fry
- fragrant, punchy, gone too fast
🍆 Mashed Chili with Eggplant & Century Egg
- served in a stone mortar, smoky and complex (and the first dish we eyed)
🍜 Cilantro Beef with Noodles - the perfect way to end it all

a couple of tips before you go:
- booking is recommended even though walk-ins work out
- if you're salt sensitive, ask for the less salt version when ordering (but recommend)
- the spice is real but it never crosses the line into chaos ... it's the kind of heat that makes you keep going back for more 🔥

the bonus of being connected to Liv Anura apartments is that it's seriously dog-friendly, Biscuit walked in like she owned the place... as usual 🐶

- cream, mango coulis, fresh figs, blueberries and biscoff crumb ... absolutely did not feel like breakfast, zero complaints
🥗 Katsu Chicken Salad · do NOT be fooled by the word "salad"
- panko fried chicken, fried halloumi, kale, sweet potato

- speculoos cookie on top, biscoff crumb, dangerously good
🍓 Strawberry Matcha Latte

Having a burger spot underneath the office is genuinely dangerous 😅

The Pulled Beef Burger from Miss Demeanour. 14 hour BBQ braised beef, maple bacon, melted mozzarella, leafy greens, BBQ sauce and aioli. After a long day at work this hit exactly as hard as it needed to.

Also ordered a side of fries because I was hungry and I have zero shame about it 🍟
