📷 Wondering what to wear for your portrait session? Here's what to keep in mind when you're putting together your outfit ahead of shoot day.
👚Don't try too hard to make everything match. A few coordinated tones across the look work beautifully, but avoid being too 'matchy-matchy', it can actually flatten the photo and make it feel a little stiff. Aim for harmony, not matching.
🎽Lean into texture and layers. Things like knits, linen, denim and soft cardigans add depth to a photo in a way that flat, single-fabric outfits just can't. They also give you something to do with your hands, which makes posing feel a lot more natural.
👗Avoid anything too busy or logo-heavy. Big patterns, bold graphics and obvious branding tend to pull focus away from your face and onto your outfit.
Simple and timeless will always photograph better than trendy and loud.
But let's be real for a second — the only rule that actually matters is wearing whatever feels most like you. The best portraits aren't about the perfect outfit. They're about you feeling comfortable enough to forget the camera is even there. 🤍📷
