I seek solitude, peace and quiet whenever I'm out photographing. I yearn to slow down and be able to llisten to my thoughts and that of my surroundings soaking up every crash of a wave, howl of the wind, rustle of leaves, chirp of a free bird.

This state of mind has led me to explore the one on one conversation between the land and sea in my favourite part of the West Australian coast and thus a long term project is borne. The images will not be what usually comes out of the Southwest but rather a departure to the opposite end of the spectrum... from awesome colour to subtle monochrome. These are smaller moments and observations, the product of a still mind.

To what end, for now, I am not certain but I would love to have an exibition hopefully one day. For now I will continue to explore, be still, see and listen.

As a long-term project, I continue to explore the passage of time as a singular experience. I do it because I've always wanted to share my overall experience when I'm photographing. While there are beautiful single images in between, I'd like to offer a unique experience of a place.

Typically created from 3 images and picked amongst hundreds, I stand in one spot one hour before and after sunset. I then combine these in Photoshop using gradient masks to create transitions from day to night.

This year has been one of my least productive years since picking up a camera a couple of years ago and for good reasons. I became a dad for the first time 7 months ago and I have also been very busy with my full--time job and now in the process of concluding an $800M development project which I have been a part of the past 3+ years. To add to that, we are moving to our recently-purchased house next weekend.

It has been a rollercoaster of a year and I cannot wait to get settled in my new and long-term studio space and get back to more photography.

Despite the limited trips, here is one of my favourite images of 2021. I hope to share more regularly soon.

Burns Beach is my favourite go-to local beach to photograph. With the changing tides, it is different everyday and every season and I love it for this very reason. There is always something to find and discover.

I have learned the value in repeated visits to a place to observe, know, and understand it. This is my process to fully connect and immerse myself with the hopes that it will reveal its secrets to me.

With the many photos I've taken of Burns Beach, this is by far my favourite.
