I don't normally share something this personal on my photography page, but today I'm putting my pride aside and asking for help.
My mum is in South Africa and desperately needs a hip replacement. She is in constant pain, and this operation could give her back something most of us take for granted โ the ability to move, function and live without debilitating pain.
The reality is that the costs surrounding this operation are simply more than our family can manage.
Being in Australia makes me feel incredibly helpless. I would give anything to simply pay what is needed and make this problem disappear, but I can't. We are going through an extremely difficult financial period ourselves, and right now I simply do not have the funds to financially carry this for her.
So I'm doing the one thing I can do.
๐ธ I'm working my backside off.
I'm trying to offer affordable photography sessions wherever I can โ maternity, newborn, family, couples, events โ because every shoot I book gives me another opportunity to put something towards helping my mum.
I'm editing late. I'm taking bookings wherever I can fit them. I'm keeping some of my shoot prices ridiculously affordable because, at the moment, my camera and my time are the only things I have available to fight this with.
But I can't do it alone.
And this is where even the smallest donation can make an enormous difference.
๐ฆ๐บ $1 AUD is approximately R11 South African Rand.
So please don't ever think โI can only spare $2, $5 or $10, it won't make a difference.โ
It DOES.
$5 becomes roughly R55.
$10 becomes roughly R110.
$20 becomes roughly R220.
$50 becomes roughly R550.
When enough people give just a little, suddenly something that felt completely impossible starts becoming possible.
