Pork Belly Baos

I've been meaning to make these again since I saw my sis make these. I literally had a dream about them the night before she sent us a photo 🤣.

Delicious and packed with lettuce, cucumber and tomato. So glad that the price of fresh veges are reasonable again.

Pork was pressure cooked with my usual soy marinade master sauce, leek, ginger and garlic. Winner everytime 😋.

Gua bao was from a frozen packet, chimei brand is one of my favourites. So convenient and delicious.

She turned 6! How the time flies!

Fruit obsessed, Miss M requested a watermelon cake this year for her birthday. She's so lucky that watermelons are in season this time of year, so she is always able to have them during her birthday. We were able to pick up some juicy, sweet melons and an assortment of other fruits at the markets.

I spent all morning cutting this and was wondering why it was taking me so long to cut until I realised I normally make cakes at night, when there are no interruptions! Miss A, was standing next to me asking "can I eat it?" for a fairly large chunk of the process 😂 and I had to cut her a 2 out of melon after she had seen the 6 I'd cut out for her sister. She even added her own touches to the cake aka poking little dents into it 😮‍💨. Overall I'm glad it turned out well and the birthday girl was super excited and happy with her cake!

Tip! Bubble tea straws are great for cutting out circles, especially for numbers.

French toast with fresh berries and maple syrup!

Perfect breakfast in bed. Hubby was pretty chuffed at how perfect the French toast turned out! He did well with the two munchkins in tow. Got to enjoy a mouthful with some fresh berries before the littlest munchkin spilt OJ on my bed 😅. We moved to the dining table after that moment.

Thank you Lisa for this wonderful birthday gift 💖🌹. These beautiful edible blooms are so amazing and delicious. Super moist cupcake with beautifully piped buttercream flowers. The protea had a hidden Malteser in middle 😋 one of my favourite chocolates!

Miss M was happy to eat them too claiming them for her own birthday 😜. Birthday month continues! Another reason for birthday month is that there are a few members of my family that also have January birthdays ☺️.

Abalone and goji berry soup.

Kicking off birthday week/month 🥳 with a bit of luxury because.... why not 😬.

With the current supply chain issues I've been digging around my frozen foods for proteins and found abalone that I have been saving for a special occasion 😊. I thought noone else would want any as hubs isn't really a fan but it must have been good as everyone had it and asked for more.

Crispy chilli chicken gua bao

The perfect balance in every bite of crunchy, spicy, soft, sweet and creamy. This was a quick meal for us after getting my booster shot. I used pre-made gua bao from
and frozen chicken from
tossed in some homemade korean style chili sauce. Assemble each one with lots of lettuce and some kewpie 😙👌🏻.

Mini sandwiches!

Wherever I think of high tea I think of a selection of mini sandwiches, desserts and scones 🤤. The mini sandwiches I'm always excited to try and usually a little bit disappointed so I for the novelty and so the little ones might find it more appealing to eat!, I made mini cucumber and fish fillet sandwiches and mini avocado and fish fillet sandwiches.

Happy to report they both ate all of their lunch. The little one took some coaxing but she ate it eventually 🙌🏼.

Happy new year! I hope everyone has had a great start to 2022! Let's hope it is a fruitful year!

Harvested some strawberries from my garden patch! So happy they've been so fruitful this season. They're sweet and I've managed to harvest a couple of big ones! I'm glad there have been plenty to harvest for us and the critters out there sneaking a bite.

Paired with sweet blueberries, simple 👌🏻

Banana bread 🍞 with walnuts using my new enamel loaf tin! 🤩

What else has been made more in the last 2 years than banana bread? Funny thing is even though I've made it so much over the last 2 years. I made a huge mistake making these and didn't add a single egg ( my recipe calls for 4 eggs!). I was distracted doing multiple things at once and completely forgot to add them. I was wondering why my batter was so dry so I had added an extra 1/4 a cup of milk to get it to the correct consistency. It wasn't until later that night when I was packing away left overs into the fridge that I realised I still had all the eggs I'd bought for baking 😅. Oops! but luckily now I know my recipe still works without eggs. It wasn't quite as rich and moist as my usual banana bread but it wasn't dry and everyone still liked it so that's a big win right there 🤭.

Not letting go of those Christmas vibes just yet! Hope everyone is having a nice rest on boxing day! 💝

Quite day in the kitchen making sourdough Discard crackers and Grissini.

I wasn't baking much sourdough the last month or so. My starter became very sour and a bit overpowering so I tried to use it up making crackers and grissini. The cheese and herbs masked the sourness of the starter and there was a nice crunch to the breadsticks. Some of the thicker ones that J didn't bake long enough were more sour but overall they were quite nice.

Will have to bake more often so I don't almost kill my starter. Sorry Charli 😸❤️

Biscoff Ricotta Cheesecake

Finally baking something with biscoff. I love having biscoff but haven't tried making anything until now.

I used a basic ricotta cheesecake recipe and added biscoff to make this. I was trying to cut down on the sugar in this recipe since I was already adding in a large amount of biscoff but it didn't end up being quite sweet enough so I melted some extra biscoff spread diluted with a bit of water and it was heaven! Biscoff and cheesecake is 💣.

I have been a bit unmotivated to cook or bake lately so it was nice to create this.

Fresh Sydney rock oysters!

I absolutely love oysters, I love it with a beautiful dressing or my favourite way to eat them is just with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice🍋. Cold fresh and delicious.

I don't often get to have oysters but when I do, I get to enjoy all of them on my own 🤩. Hubby is not a fan and the kids are still too young to enjoy them 😜. This was the best afternoon tea, I should feel guilty about eating the whole dozen myself but I kinda don't 😬.
