You can't win them all! Went out for a night dive on the Glenelg Dredge wreck last night. About 5kms off Glenelg in 20m. Topside it was lovely but underwater it was terrible, very murky with lots of big particulates suspended in the current. Looked hard, but couldn't find much at all except hundreds of spider crabs and couldn't take a single decent photo. Saw one drummer, about 4 old wives, a couple of Magpie Perch, a Brownspot wrasse, a leatherjacket, a Talma and a few blue crabs. There are a few ascidians starting to show again, but it was a really disappointing dive. One of the other divers reported a group of about 15 very small squid spotted on their safety stop, so that was the one bit of good news but I didn't see them.

Freediving Rapid Head, 6 April 2026, the fur seals stayed with us basically the whole dive but I did notice a few other things. Plenty of the usual suspects like drummer, magpie perch, sweep and wrasses. Some blue devils under the ledges and I was really happy to see quite a few hydroid fans and the underside of the ledges looked colourful with encrusting algae and sponges. GoPro10. No doubt more seal spam to come….😎

Happy Easter everyone. Matt is still struggling with the fallout of the algal bloom and as I've shared before has fallen into a pit of substance abuse and conspiracy theories, BUT, I reckon he's on the mend and might be ready for some new adventures soon.....he said I could share a few classics, including the Easter weekend he found that abandoned ship in space...👽😲

Night dived Port Noarlunga Jetty last night, 4 April 2026. Viz wasn't great ~4m tops but water is still warm. Abundant juvenile sand crabs, whiting, snapper and king prawns. Very few of the Little Gurnards and Cobblers that were so abundant after the bloom. Still no cephalopods or sharks/rays. A diver I know did see a single large squid here this week! That is interesting! My dive got cut a bit short with a flood alarm in my camera, but all is OK! 🙂

Aldinga Reef 22 March 2026. Sometimes it takes me a little while to get round to editing! I've shared my concern about the deep sponge garden part of the reef in a previous clip, this is the middle depth area, known as the "pinnacles" with its fantastic complex terrain! 🙂 Lots of fish, incredible numbers of hulafish, quite a few leatherjackets of several species, bullseyes, wrasses, Old Wives, Talma, Snapper, Redfish...great to see.
