One of the highlights from today’s tour! 🐨🌿

I had the pleasure of guiding a lovely Italian honeymoon couple who had only arrived in Australia last night, and what a welcome to our wildlife they received!

We were lucky enough to see plenty of native animals throughout the day, but this young male koala stole the show. He climbed down low into the eucalypts and settled in for lunch right in front of us. In the video, he slowly munched this single leaf all the way down while we stood quietly watching.

Moments like these are why I love what I do. Sharing the incredible wildlife of Kangaroo Island with visitors from around the world is such a privilege, especially when the animals choose to put on a show all by themselves. 💚

🦘 Winter on Kangaroo Island is wildlife’s wonderland.
As the breeding season approaches, male Kangaroo Island kangaroos begin testing each other’s strength and establishing the pecking order. These impressive sparring matches are all about deciding who’s the biggest and strongest before the breeding season gets underway.

Winter is one of my favourite times of year on the island. The paddocks are green, the birdlife is incredible, whales return to our coastline, and wildlife seems to be everywhere you look. Even better, we’re starting to see the new arrivals, with tiny kangaroo and koala joeys beginning to peek their little heads out from Mum’s pouch. 💚

If you’ve only ever thought of Kangaroo Island as a summer destination, you might be missing its most magical season.
