Red Winged Fairy Wrens.

Slide 1 - Male subject glowing in the dense brush. Took forever to catch him sitting still 🫪

Slide 2 & 3 - Pretty little lady coming in for a hard stare & then trilling her displeasure at the 6 foot 4 giant in her hood 😅

First time seeing a full chocolate Australian Raven!

The Brown Mutation or "Isabelline" mutation as it was once known, means our Aussie Ravens eumelanin doesn't oxidize properly, resulting in this rich, brown plumage.
Normally corvids would segregate the black sheep, or brown in this case, fearing disease or unwanted attention from predators... But this adult is fully grown, flew in with a glossy black mate & looks to be in perfect health.
Just look at those eyes 👀

The Third Wheel.

Slide 1 : Two Eastern Ospreys on the morning hunt. I've been following these two up and down the Meelup / Old Dunsborough coastline in hopes of catching an epic dive domb.

Slide 2 : Old Mate Sally Seagull flew in with not a care in the world & the female Osprey was clearly not impressed. I feel ya sister 🤦🏼

Nice haul from today, dodging showers & keeping the fingertips from forming ice cubes 🥶

Splendid Wrens in eclipse, Grey Fantail getting right up in my grill, beautiful Black Swans gliding through the lake & my favorite flock of Baudins, who found me far from our usual hangout 🤯

Echoes of the old lines.

Loved how the harsh, industrial lines of this little locomotive cut straight through the soft wintery greens and that imposing, heavy treeline. The South West always delivers when you least expect it.

Baudins Black Cockatoo's here, enjoying some late afternoon aerobatics in the fading sun.
Absolutely stunning display from a flock that easily numbered in the 30-40s. Which is unreal and so encouraging just in itself.

Been a minute since I've posted a good jetty!

This little beauty is nicely tucked away in Abbey Beach neck of the woods and thankfully, this morning had not a single breath of wind. Pure, unadulterated calm... Perfect food for the soul.
