Same night, just a different reason to head out.

We got an aurora alert, so we packed up the cameras and went for a drive. No big expectations, just one of those “might as well try” kind of moments.

It didn’t really put on much of a show. There was a hint of it, but nothing dramatic. Still, standing out there at the end of the world at Arthurs Pass, it didn’t feel like a loss.

Quiet, cold, a bit of colour in the sky, and a good excuse to be out there.

Sometimes that’s enough. Plus, we came home with this!

A not-quite-clear night at Arthurs Pass, but honestly… I didn’t mind it.

This image is a stack from a timelapse series I shot while we stayed in the cutest little beach shack. The clouds drifted in and out like they were part of the plan, softening the sky just enough to make everything feel a bit dreamier.

I actually went into this night with a plan to shoot timelapses across Tassie… and yes, they’re all still in progress. Future me is working overtime.

But there’s something I love about this frame on its own.
The glow from the shack, the movement in the sky, that quiet in-between moment where it’s not perfect, but it’s real.

On our way out to Eddystone Point Lighthouse, we came across this little guy crossing the road. He wasn’t bothered by us at all. Just kept doing his thing, sniffing around and foraging while I snapped a few photos.

One of those random little moments you don’t plan, but end up being a highlight.

We found fluffy cows. A cool fog rolling across the paddock, everything quiet and a little bit dreamy.

This is what dreams are made of.

Stopped in at Platypus House and got to spend some time with the echidnas… and I’m still not over it. They’re this perfect mix of spiky and snuffly, just quietly doing their thing and completely unbothered by the world.

Such a cool experience getting to see them up close.

I spent some time at Seahorse World and honestly… I could’ve stayed there for hours. The seahorses are so tiny and detailed, just wrapped around the plants doing their thing. Definitely one of those places where you slow down without even realising it.
