A cute pup?
Potential family member?
Well, it actually doesn't matter what we see.
She can't.
She cant see a thing because this puppy was born with out bloody eyes. Why? Because one ignorant intentionally chose greed over ethics.
Humans who knowingly create suffering, then disappear while rescues and volunteers are left to clean up the blood, the damage and the consequences, should have a special reservation in the fire pit.
Remy was a deliberate product of 2 Merles.
She is basically the physical receipt of what happens when greed and Google warnings get ignored simultaneously. An intentional genetic dumpster fire.
Not because they had to.
Not because it was an accident.
Because merle puppies sell.
Because flashy coats make money.
Because people keep treating dogs like aesthetic Pinterest boards instead of living, breathing souls.
And this… this is the result.
Double merle breeding is not some rare mystery anymore. The risks are common knowledge. Deafness. Blindness. Neurological defects. Puppies born broken before they even get a chance to live.
Is it illegal? No.
Should it be? Absolutely.
Does knowingly doing it anyway make you a selfish piece of s**t? To the point it should be the title of your memoir.
The cruelest part?
Remy doesn’t know she was failed.
She still wags her tail.
Still throws herself at toys.
Still toddles around like every other puppy, just with a few bumps into walls along the way.
Still trusts humans completely, despite humans being the reason she arrived in this world disabled.
That’s the part that guts you.
Because dogs do not sit around feeling sorry for themselves. Humans do that. Dogs adapt. Dogs survive. Dogs love anyway.
And now it’s our turn to make sure the rest of her life finally feels safe.
The incredible women at Red Collar Rescue Incorportated kept her protected and cared for until we could say yes to taking her on, and now the amazing Yvette and Cathy from Above and Beyond Dog Training and Rehabilitation will be helping Remy learn clicker training and navigate the world safely and confidently.
We are looking for a forever home for her immediately, not because she’s unwanted, but because blind dogs thrive on consistency, mapping their environment, bonding deeply with their person, and learning routines early.
What Remy needs:
Another calm dog to help guide her and act as her eyes
No young children due to overstimulation and sudden noise. Sound is all she has so it needs to be calm and clear for her.
Unfortunately, it will almost certainly rule out renters because constantly shifting rentals means constantly relearning the world from scratch. Horrible to put that segregation in there as owning your home doesn't change the love you can give, its simply a stability structure she needs.
She is not “damaged goods.”
She is not a pity project.
She is however another example of the *** knuckles that still live amongst us, the ones who steal our oxygen but would sue you for the air quality.
