With all the best intentions I was going to do a sunrise shoot this morning. I set the alarm for 4am to get up and out, but the bloody cat kept me awake all night crying because he wanted to go out to play. I didnā€™t fall asleep until nearly 3am and then slept right through my alarm.

The cat does this night after night and itā€™s driving me mad. Worse than having a newborn in the house! Does anyone elseā€™s cat do this?

This image was a tricky, tricky one for me to both capture and edit. I have sat on it and re-edited it many times and while itā€™s far from technically perfect, I like the aesthetics of it. From memory it is made up of 6 different exposures, in order to capture both the church and the lights dancing in the sky above it.

This was my first experience with aurora photography. It was the middle of the night, freezing cold, and it was an experience only surpassed by the birth of my three kids.

I hiked about half way up this volcano before deciding to back out. It wasnā€™t because it was hard hiking up it (which it was), it was because the path was very rocky and with each step the ground underneath moved.

I was alone and there was no one else around and I was paranoid I was going to break my ankle on the way back down and end up on the news after being rescued šŸ˜‚.

It was still a pretty cool experience and the views were pretty awesome even from half way up.
