Today is — a reminder of how important it is to keep our eyes open, share posts, check tags, and help bring lost pups back where they belong.🐾
To better the chances of bringing your pooch back home safe and sound:
✔Stay calm, act swiftly, search the immediate area: your home, yard, and nearby surroundings. Sometimes, pets may be hiding nearby, frightened or injured.
✔Resist the temptation to chase if you see your dog. A lost and scared dog will be in survival mode and they will be frightened, they might not even recognise you. Dogs will run from a perceived threat, even their own family, so keep calm, sit on the ground and allow them to approach you.
✔Ask your neighbours if they saw anything, they might be able to provide valuable information. Check security cameras.
✔Use social media: share a clear photo and description of your pet and include details such as breed, color, size, and any distinctive markings. Encourage people to share your post to widen the search.
✔Contact local shelters, vets and your microchip company, provide them with a detailed description of your pet and your contact information.
✔Distribute flyers that include your pet's photo, name, and your contact information in your neighborhood, local parks, and community bulletin boards.
✔Search at different times as dogs may be more active during certain times of the day. Try searching for your pet during the very early mornings, late evenings, and nights when it's quieter and there's less traffic.
✔Use treats and familiar scents: bring along your pet's favorite treats or toys and your clothes while searching. Familiar scents can attract them back home if they're nearby.
