Some mornings ask you to see differently. This was one of those. The sun hadn’t risen yet but the sky was already on fire, and these Brolgas standing in the shallow water created the perfect silhouettes. No detail, no colour on the bird. Was mesmerised by the shapes, the light, and the reflections.

I’m a bird and wildlife photographer sharing the wild from behind the lens. Follow along for more moments like this. 📷

The rain stopped. The jungle went quiet. And then she walked out. P-151, the reigning queen of Panna Tiger Reserve. Wet fur, soft light, and the kind of presence that makes you forget you’re holding a camera. She moved through the clearing with a grace that only belongs to something that has never been questioned. She didn’t acknowledge us. She didn’t need to. This was her land and she was simply being the queen she’s always been.

It’s me and you, just us two. The wind was relentless, cold, and sharp. Feathers blown sideways, crests turned every which way, and yet these two sat right next to each other, unmoved. Every frame I took of these two Crested Pigeons told the same story. It was the kind of love and support that holds still while everything else is moving. The kind that doesn’t need to announce itself or make any grand gestures. Just quiet, steady presence. I watched them for a long while and not once did either bird shift away. These two set relationship goals that day.

You don’t need to see a bird’s face to find it beautiful. This Pacific Black Duck was preening quietly on the water, head tucked away, completely unaware that it was showing off the most stunning part of itself….that iridescent green hidden within its wings.

Stoked to have placed in the Top 10 of Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographers 2026 in the Animals category.

‘Kin’ ia a series my favourite birds, the Australasian Gannets shot at the Point Danger Gannet Colony, to showcase the quiet beauty, bonds and kinship of this colony.

Huge congratulations to all the winners, shortlisted and everyone who entered.

I imagined photographing Tigers at Panna as they would boldy walk around in the best light. But the truth is, most of our time was spent searching. With the help of your expert guides you slowly learn to scan the grass for the pair of rounded ears just above the grass line, a stripe pattern catching the light where it shouldn’t be, the slightest movement and glint of amber. That’s where the tiger lives. Not out in the open, but woven into the landscape, hidden in plain sight.

You think you know a Crested Serpent Eagle until you see it this close. Those striking golden eyes……those seriously long eyelashes, and that never ending stare. I’ve photographed these birds before, but never this close, and I was not prepared for what I saw. This one gave every frame a different mood. Curiosity, attitude and a drmatic eye roll all within a few minutes.

Tigers are fierce. Tigers are predators. Tigers are the most magnificent big cats on the planet. They’re also wonderfully goofy…….. basically just a very large house cat ….. and are absolutely playful.
I have always wanted to capture a different side of what we always imagine a tiger to be — not the roar, not the hunt, just a young tiger being completely herself.

The thing about light is it doesn’t change the subject. It reveals it. The sun at the horizon turned the water into shimmering gold and this White-faced Heron went from ordinary to truly magical. Same bird, same routine, but suddenly surrounded by sparkling diamonds on every surface. The true beauty of this heron was always there. The light just made sure we couldn’t miss it.
