The Ospreys as Hastings Point are an absolute joy to watch. There are 5, the adult male and female, their female offspring from 24/25 (for ID I’m calling her Jay), and two juniors who fledged early Dec 2025.
The Tweed Shire Council has installed nest platforms around the Tweed. There are two at Hastings Point, the active nest, and the one in this photo, which they use as a resting, and eating, and watching location.
Mum osprey was sitting up on the nest basket, and Jay was sitting on the crossbeam with her catch, when one of the juniors decided to fly in and try and land on the cross beam next to her.
They are still building their flying skills, and this one didn’t quite time it right, landing right on top of Jay. This sent junior up again, and Jay off the beam (and she headed to her alternate location).
This photo was taken as Jay moved off (Jay on the right with the fish, junior higher up on the left)
