Finishing what has been an amazing year off by visiting the future of our Seadragons. The first batch of babies have hatched and are thriving in our local waters of Portsea Pier. These incredibly cute little dragons are the size of a grain or rice when they hatch, but quickly grow up in the shelter of the w**ds under the pier.

This week has been some of the best diving conditions I have seen for a very long time. Incredible visibility, spectacular Weedy Seadragons and a fresh brood of eggs for our amazing dads made this some of the best diving I have ever done!

Monday provided some excellent conditions and much needed sunlight. What better way to celebrate than by going back to my roots and taking some simple yet striking photos of our favorite critter, the Weedy Seadragon

Late afternoon dives are absolutely amazing at the moment. With calm southerly winds and amazing visibility, made all the better by the abundance of juvenille Blue Ringed Octopus! Late Spring diving is certainly turning it up a notch this year!

A very productive Saturday with my favourite subjects, the Weedy Seadragon. Male dragons will hold bright pink clutches of eggs against their elongated tails, fertilising them and rearing them until they hatch! The bright pink of the eggs means that these eggs are still fresh and only a few days old!
In a matter of weeks, the eggs will develop and hatch, meaning lots of baby dragons to find.

Portsea Pier has been like an aquarium this week, with the male Seadragons showing off their gorgeous pink eggs in the golden yellow sargassum w**d. Low swell and winds have made for stellar diving conditions, and when you have subjects like the Weedy Seadragon, it is no wonder the only place I want to be is in the water

Dragon egg season is back upon us! After months of anticipation, we returned to the dragons den to find our amazing dragon dads had eggs! Whilst conditions were absolutely horrendous with huge swell and terrible visibility, the dragons still put on a show, displaying their bright pink fresh eggs on their tales.
