Rose — the youngest of the group at just 12 years old — was understandably nervous, but she still stepped in front of the camera. Even with bystanders and afternoon walkers passing by and watching, she kept going. If you’ve never been in that position, it’s hard to understand just how daunting it can feel.
Well done, Rose—you did great! I hope you had fun and that this experience stays with you.

Olivia - love how natural she looks here—like she’s not trying too hard, just moving with the moment. The wind, the water, the flow of her dress… it all comes together with a quiet elegance. Around the rocks, she shifts into something a bit stronger and more focused, but still completely herself.
Simple, real, and full of feeling.
I really love her sunset shots where I used a slower shutter to capture her movement—it feels a bit surreal, like time softens and lingers around her.

Ava—whether she’s moving freely along the shoreline or balancing on pointe on the rocks—has a way of making the incredibly difficult look completely natural.
It’s that mix of strength and softness that stands out… controlled, but never stiff. Powerful, but still light.
Nothing here was posed—she was just dancing, letting the movement come naturally. Moving with the ocean, it was all real, in-the-moment. Quiet, effortless… just Ava doing her thing.
It was amazing to watch.

Ruby — on the day of the shoot she had some discomfort in her leg, so we kept things simple and avoided dynamic movements and stayed with static poses to avoid aggravating it. Even so, she brought a calm confidence to every frame, holding strong, elegant lines that still feel full of movement.

Sienna’s been with Dance N Dazzle since she was young, and you can just tell it’s a huge part of who she is. She’s got this really natural way of moving—graceful, but also strong—and it makes everything she does look effortless.
There’s something about the way she dances that feels easy to watch, like she’s completely in her element. Whether she’s in the air or just moving across the floor, she has this calm confidence and flow that really draws you in.

Golden light, ocean breeze, and Miss Kyara doing what she does best.
From starting dance at just 1 year old to becoming a nationally recognised tap champion and qualified teacher, Kyara brings both strength and artistry to every movement. With years of elite training, major titles, and a passion for sharing her knowledge, she’s not only an incredible dancer but an inspiring mentor to so many.
Capturing her on the beach felt like the perfect reflection of her style — powerful, graceful, and completely effortless.

Recently, I had a fun afternoon shoot at Birubi Beach, Anna Bay with seven talented dancers from Dance N Dazzle Studio in Medowie. It was windy and cool, but the late afternoon sun brought a gentle warmth and the light was simply magical—so much so that although I had planned to use flash, I ended up shooting entirely in natural light to make the most of that crisp, golden glow.
The girls brought incredible energy, pulling out all the moves and having an absolute ball. As the sun dipped below the horizon, each dancer took a turn moving with the ocean, creating beautiful silhouette moments reflected in the wet sand, while the rich orange hues of the disappearing sun added an extra layer of magic to the scene.
We even had a brief camel cameo—well, almost! The girls tried to organise a group shot, but the camels had wandered off by the time everything came together.
It was an amazing afternoon filled with creativity, laughter, and great company. I’ve photographed these dancers before, and their talent and creativity always shine through—they really bring the images to life and make every shot something special. I’ll start this set with Scarlet.

Headed out to Birubi Beach on Saturday arvo with plans to shoot some surfers, but the waves never showed up. So I improvised and turned the camera on my daughter Bella (the blonde) and her bestie Jazzy instead. No complaints — we had a blast 😆

Capturing the unstoppable energy of Medowie’s dance powerhouse and Newcastle Knights cheerleader, Kyara Darcy.

From clinching National Champion titles in Senior Elite Tap and Song & Tap at Showcase Nationals alongside sister Scarlett, to dominating eisteddfods and earning scholarships like at Lake Macquarie, Kyara’s talent from Dance n Dazzle Studio lights up every stage.
Whether mastering tap routines that took her to masterclasses in New York and LA, serving as Vice Captain at Hunter School of Performing Arts, or hyping the crowd as a Knights cheerleader, her passion and precision shine through.

Capturing the sparkle of Medowie’s rising star, Scarlett Darcy. From sweeping the floor at Abermain’s 100th Eisteddfod with multiple firsts in singing and dance, to clinching National Champion titles at Showcase alongside her sister Kyara, this talented young performer from Dance n Dazzle Studio has honours, medals, and scholarships galore in ballet, jazz, tap, and vocals.
Whether belting out hymns for championship gold or nailing auditions as Marty in “Grease,” Scarlett’s passion shines through every step and note —what an incredible local talent!
