Great to be part of the WDHC, and to help them for their 75th Anniversary Dinner celebrations. Check out the page for a full compilation of photos from the evening
The West Devonport Hockey Club 75th Anniversary would not have been possible without three very special members of our club.
The 75th anniversary sub-committee have created an Icon status for the absolute cream of our membership. The hierarchy now reads ICON, Life Member, Dragons Club.
To be an Icon of West Devonport an inductee must bleed not only red, but green too. The three inductees were honoured at the function, all contributed have more in their time than many of us could hope to in three lifetimes.
Their combined effort has brought credit untold to our club and have made is so that we as the current flight of dragons can enjoy our sport, with our mates, in brilliant surrounds and set the tone for our club to be a family.
The West Devonport Hockey Club recognises
Adrian Mallison – Our first and only Kookaburra, our first captain/coach and a man who brought true credit to the colours.
Bruce Peters – Universally loved, admired and respected, Bruce was all but a founding member and held many positions on and off the field, most notably as goalkeeper, President and Patron.
Colin Emmett – A tireless worker for the club for many, many years, his family forms West Devonport royalty due to the legacy Col left, in particular his campaigning and effort to get a synthetic surface in Devonport, first sand based and onto the water based surfaces.
This image is of the Peters Family who accepted the award on behelf of Bruce.
West Devonport Hockey Club owes a debt of gratitude to these three gentlemen, giants of our club and member who dedicated themselves to the Dragons way of life.
