They've put in a new canoe ramp and stairway — shot it from the ground for the detail, then up for how the whole thing sits against the river.

That's a humpback mid-breach off Port Macquarie last week — caught it just as it cleared the water. One of those moments where you just hope the camera's pointing in the right direction.

Out with Port Jet Cruise Adventures last week on a glorious winter's day — flat water, barely a breath of wind, and a pod of six humpbacks heading north.

We spent a good stretch following them before spotting one further out breaching repeatedly on its own. The ocean was so calm you could hear them breathing.

St Thomas Anglican Church on Hay Street, shot from above before dawn.

The foundation stone was laid in 1824 — built by convict labour using 365,000 handmade bricks, with finger marks pressed into them to tally each convict's daily output.

It took four years to complete.

Governor Macquarie reportedly insisted the church be built before a gaol, saying "the Church has more chance of saving souls."

In continuous use ever since. One of the fifth oldest Anglican churches still operating in Australia.
