Damn, was I glad that this sunset turned out to be a cracker, as it was kind of adventurous to get to this place! I just followed a narrow sandy track not knowing where I would end up eventually. Parked my car literally in the bush after it became too sandy and had to walk the rest thru bush and sand dunes. Note to myself: next ride gotta be a 4WD ;)

Mount Taranaki viewed from the Pouakai Tarns. Tarnaki, the perfect cone volcano, was pretty much at the top on my list of destinations while touring New Zealand. So was the disappointment with the weather (caution - big-time whinging as Taranaki hides perceived 90% of the year behind thick rainclouds) as there was a strong and freezing wind howling at the Pouakai Tarns what spoiled the reflections in the water. Well, at least I got to witness this magic glow of the mountain at sunset.

Windy Beauty on the Tasman Sea - Wharariki Beach

If you weren’t already dying to visit New Zealand, here’s yet another reason to head to one of the most gorgeous places on Earth.

Wharariki Beach, located on the northwestern coast of New Zealand’s South Island, is an incredible sight. Wildlife, caves, cliffs and the iconic Archway Islands all draw adventurers to the beach.

Knights Beach in Port Elliot. On the first glance there's nothing really remarkable about this beach. But when the light and tide is right, some very interesting rock formations appear and the surf breaks in a very beautiful way. I loved coming here and hunt for shots or just enjoy the peace and serenity of this place in the off-season.

There is nothing better. Every time I find myself looking up at the starry sky... I can't help but feel as if I'm looking up at some part of myself... some part that is free of all earthly worries and can never be touched. Looking at the stars makes me feel calm and at peace with myself, if only for the while. Life may be hectic and out of control but looking at the stars makes everything seem ok for the moment. I love that about stars and I love those magical moments that you experience while being in the great outdoors. So was that night at the Pouakai Hut in Egmont National Park.

As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”

Not a bad way to say goodby! This one was taken on my last morning in South Australia last year in March. I chose to stay in Port Elliot on the Fleurieu Peninsula for one last night before I headed further East and sadly left the state. During my time in South Australia the Fleurieu Peninsula turned out to be a photographers playground and I took every oppurtunity I had to drive down there from Adelaide, staying for sunset and sunrise.

Hey guys! Seems like it's been a good while since my last post. All I can say is that I was super busy with other things in life and unfortunately couldn't spare much of my focus on photography.

Majestic Sydney Harbour Bridge with the Opera and Skyline in the back.

Yeah, the "Remarkable Rocks", as they are called, are pretty cool stuff and are arguably "the" landmark on Kangaroo Island. They are a collection of enormous eroded granite boulders sitting atop a giant dome of lava coughed up about 200 million years ago. Wind and sea spray have since carved the chunks into what look like monumental Henry Moore sculptures perched 60 meters above a crashing sea.

This shot only pictures the very little rocks of the collection though. Still, aren't they remarkable?
