I'm a massive believer in genuine smiles, I hate fake camera smiles! In order to get genuine smiles I'm often joking around. I work hard to get people to laugh, smile and relax in front of my camera. If I'm told someone hates their photo being taken I make it my secret mission to make it a fun stress free experience for them. I want my clients to walk away having had a fun time at the shoot. Rarel

y these days do we dedicate time just for us or our family, being 100% present, away from screens genuinely connecting so it's important to me that this precious time be cherished and enjoyed. Besides who wants to look at pictures of a photoshoot they white knuckled it through hating every second! When you look back on my photos I want you love the images and to remember what a good time you had that day.

I’ve had loads of people say they were bummed that they missed a spot on the Movement in Street photography mini workshop so I decided to release another one. The next one will be late evening/night so we will get to play around shooting movement in the dark which will be super fun.

Also my final Get Off Auto course for the year has one spot left. You know what to do if you want it.

Update: 2 spots left.

Only 3 spots left for my last Get Off Auto women’s only photography workshop this year. Learn how aperture, shutter speed and ISO work without all the techy scary words. Taught simply in a way that women understand. The class is limited to 7 participants. The day is all about women connecting. Eating yummy food. Playing with cameras. Being supported and never made to feel like you don’t belong.

Perfect if:

✔️ You have a new mirrorless or DSL camera
✔️ Your camera is neglected gathering dust
✔️ You have lost confidence shooting in manual
✔️ You have shot in auto for 47 years

Come for the class then stick around The Shutter Sisterhood. The most gangster club in town (dare not call us a women’s camera club we are way too cool for that label).

If you are on the fence just jump on it and think later. Every time I’ve offered this class it’s sold out and I have to turn people away.

All details about the workshop and everything else that is coming up in The Hood 📸 can be found here:

I'd been dreaming about becoming a professional photographer long before I got up the courage. I actually applied for an Australian Business Number (ABN) for photography on the 1st of July 2011 then it took me almost a decade to make the leap from being a full time accountant to being a full time photographer. If you could do any job in the world (no barriers just wake up and you have a new job) what would you do?

We do mini challenges in The Shutter Sisterhood and this month it's all about capturing movement and embracing blur.

I'm accidentally becoming a sports photographer. First my daughter's netball game this morning then after lunch I'm off to photograph my nephew scoring a try and kicking 3 goals in the Sharks first grade game (ok I may be manifesting).

Proud Mumma moment - first goal of the game.

📸 The Monthlies kick off with our first picnic morning tea at Bago Winery $25 Sun 30 Aug.

I photographed this old school backyard complete with a mandarin tree on a recent Airbnb shoot and it instantly transported me back to childhood.

Every winter, my cousins and I would climb Aunty Kath's mandarin tree and basically eat our way through it. I'm pretty sure no-one cared as long as we were outside playing..."You kids GET OUTSIDE!!!"

Funny how a simple photo can unlock memories you haven't thought about in years.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who had a fruit tree they regularly raided as a kid? 🍊😂 What's your version of the mandarin tree story?
