Standing at the southernmost point of South Australia, you really feel the weight of the seasons shifting. 🌊🔥

Port MacDonnell has a way of making the Autumnal Equinox feel like a grand event rather than just a date on the calendar. Today, as the sun crosses the equator and day and night sit in perfect balance, the Southern Ocean turned to silk while the sky caught fire.

There’s a specific kind of magic that happens here when the air turns crisp and the light gets this heavy. The days might be getting shorter from here on out, but if the transition looks like this, the longer nights are a welcome trade-off.

As the seasons turn and we progress ever deeper into the autumn, the lack of rain is ever evident as the usually lush hills of the Fleurieu Peninsula are so dry and dusty. Yet within the Second Valley Forest the deer population seems to be thriving. It seems that around every corner you'll find them, and if you happen to stroll between the trees early you might hear the bellowing of a stag.

Happy Autumnal Equinox, fellow wanderers! This morning, I greeted the dawn from the heights of Mount Osmond, watching Adelaide awaken as the sun painted the city in golden hues. The air was crisp, the light was ethereal, and the view? Absolutely breathtaking.

As the days grow shorter and the nights longer, there's a certain magic in witnessing the shift of seasons. The hills are starting to whisper of change, with subtle hints of amber and ochre creeping into the landscape. It's a reminder to embrace the beauty of transition, to find solace in the quiet moments, and to appreciate the ever-changing tapestry of nature.

Here's to embracing the balance of light and dark, to venturing out into the crisp air, and to finding new perspectives in the familiar. May your autumnal journey be filled with wonder and reflection.
