Throwback to that time my mate and I checked out Bryce Canyon, Utah. We had perfect weather and although there was still some snow on the ground, it was warm and sunny. .

I entered this photo in the nature category for a 'Photographer of the Year' competition run in Perth and it won first place. I am pretty stoked considering there were some amazing photos to compete with and there were hundreds of entries.

The judges loved how I managed to capture humans interacting with nature.

Where I work has some of the hottest temperatures in the world and water is hard to come by. This little lizard came over looking for water and I caught him licking the moisture from the bags. They are usually pretty skittish, but this one hung around long enough for me to get down in the dirt and mud and get the angle right and take this shot.

A single exposure taken in remote Western Australia. Working as an exploration geologist we are often hundreds of kilometres from the nearest town and over a thousand kilometres from the nearest city. It means the night sky is amazing and you can see every star up there.

Counting shooting stars and satellites around the campfire at night is the best way to relax after a long, hard day at work.

I have never really done any black and white photography before, but I recently entered a photo comp that needed a B&W shot so I entered this one. Tell me how I could improve this photo.

I took this in Sintra, Portugal inside this crazy castle complex. These cats were feral and lived in the gardens. Most were in poor health and malnourished. I managed to give this little guy a bit of food for letting me take photos of him.

I headed down to Como jetty to get this snap. All the smoke haze from the bushfires near Perth last night produced a nice warm glowing sky after sunset.

Working as a geologist in the Pilbara region of Western Australia means you will have some very long days on a drill rig looking for that next big deposit. The mining industry is a very important one for Australia and this is where it all begins. Sometimes you have to have fun, so I decided to make this little snowman out of clay. With temperatures commonly in the high 40s, the last time this place would have seen snow would have been during the last ice age.

A quick photo taken inside the in , Spain. I loved exploring this place with new friends I had made back in Madrid a few days prior. The architecture and history here is incredible. Originally built in 889 and then completed in the 1300's, it has gone through centuries of destruction and construction and it has been occupied by Christians, Muslims and many different kings and queens after many battles. It was a pretty surreal experience to be walking through the gardens and hallways of this place.

The New Cathedral of Cuenca, Ecuador. I really loved this city, after spending 6 weeks in Ecuador this was my final stop before I flew to Argentina. So much history and some pretty amazing architecture.

One of the perks about having a job that allows you to travel is finding some amazing places like this one.

Fern pool in Karijini National Park Western Australia is still one of my favourite places in the world.

Have you been there too?
