What a day...sitting on the cliffs of Peterborough photographing humpbacks as they come through when we get alerted to the fact there is a Southern Right Whale and her calf in the area. So packed up and drove to Port Campbell and found them near Bakers Oven heading west...It's hard trying to find a good vantage point along the cliffs of the great ocean road, but thankfully managed to find a spot with lots of help. Many thanks to the person that put the original post on the great ocean road page, to friends and family who alerted me to the post, as they know me so well...a whale nutter..lol and to Mandy and Ian who contacted Parks to see if any other sightings.
It takes a village of people to track these elusive creatures and all the help is greatly appreciated.

I spent 7 hours watching a Southern Right Whale and her calf at East Beach, Port Fairy today. They looked to be resting for the most part, just drifting with the current. The calf had moments of activity which was wonderful to see.
