Vietnam Veterans Day | 18 August

Today we remember and honour the Australians who served in the Vietnam War, and especially those who fought at the Battle of Long Tan on 18 August 1966.

A battle that became one of the most significant actions involving Australian troops during the Vietnam War — a war that, for many who served, would leave a lasting mark long after they returned home.

Today’s service at the Soldiers Memorial School of Arts was a beautiful and respectful tribute. 🇦🇺

We remember those who served, those who were wounded, and those who never made it home. We also honour the families who carried the weight of that service and the veterans who came home carrying experiences that were often difficult to speak about.

Lest we forget.

Caught these two coming down the road earlier this year while riding passenger. You have to be quick when you’re shooting on the move! Shooting through a truck windscreen at highway speeds comes with its own set of challenges—managing reflections, tracking the oncoming speed, and nailing the framing before the moment passes. Really happy with how the green and chrome pop against the roadside backdrop.

There’s a distinct beauty in the rural landscape that you only truly appreciate when you spend hours watching it pass by. I caught this lone gum tree standing sharp against the sky earlier this year while riding shotgun on a run. Capturing everyday country views from a completely different vantage point is one of my favorite parts of being out on the road.

Joined the Toowoomba Photography Group for an autumn walk in Highfields on Saturday.

After my lens decided to misbehave, our instructor kindly lent me a 35mm prime to use for the morning. Not the start I’d planned, but it turned into a great learning experience.

Beautiful weather, autumn colours and good company made for a fantastic outing. 🍂📷

I had the opportunity to meet up with another photographer for a family session and it was such a valuable experience.

We chatted through everything as we went — lighting, prompting, positioning, working with kids and finding those genuine moments in between the chaos. Watching someone else’s approach in real time was incredibly inspiring and reminded me how much there always is to learn in this industry.

The sweetest little moments were captured during this session, and I left feeling so motivated, creatively refreshed and excited to keep growing behind the camera.

Forever grateful for photographers who are willing to share their knowledge and support others in the industry 🤍
