Even when not in breeding plumage, male splendid fairy wrens are still stunning. Did you know that these birds only wear their bright blue coats for part of the year, the rest of the time they are brown with just some blue on the wings and tail, how much blue varies from bird to bird but the older ones tend to keep more.

The colour of the ocean around Christmas Island is insane, so many blues and all of them gorgeous. Some of the palest blues are in the crashing waves, above which the brown noddy flies.
