For more than a decade, I have delivered photographic services to construction, architecture, mining and design firms, informed by a background in rigging, crane operation, construction and demolition, and an Advanced Diploma in Applied Science Photography. I use a wide variety of photographic techniques and equipment, including elevated work platforms and helicopter aerial photography, to capture
spectacular images of projects ranging from large industrial scale to residential constructions. The diversity of my experience extends well beyond industrial images into architecture, people, products, art and food. Beautiful visual documentation of your designs, products, buildings, or infrastructure is key to creating portfolios, attracting future clients, developing impactful advertising material and websites, and winning awards. After many years with a camera in my hands, I am certain I can produce images you will love. ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY
I have diverse experience capturing architectural images that express the form and function of the structure from all angles, working strategically with natural light to showcase the beauty and dexterity of the architect’s design to best effect. My work has included commercial buildings; light industrial; train stations; public buildings; schools; shopping complexes; high-rise residential apartments; medium density complexes; and single-dwelling houses. INTERIORS
From calculating the ideal time of day and light conditions to shoot, to capturing small elegant details, to encapsulating large interiors in single shots or panoramics, my extensive experience gives me a refined approach, enabling me to find and grasp the story of the space. I have produced interior images for restaurants; retail shops; all kinds of residential buildings; offices and commercial spaces for architects, interior architects, and others. PRODUCTS
I am experienced in styling and setting up product shots in a studio, a portable studio, natural surroundings, or on location to explore design in images: highlighting beauty, form, function, and symmetry. Everything from public art; light-fittings; balaustrades; decorations; jewellery; food and beverage; mechanical components; roller doors; toilets; to skateboard parts. PEOPLE
Corporate portraiture; workplace scenarios; board meetings; awards nights; bands and musicians; pin-up girls; childcare centres; wedding photographs; and family portraiture are all opportunities for me to help people tell their stories. I have a knack for developing rapport with my subjects and helping people to relax and enjoy the process, whether in a studio environment, at home, or on location. Warming up, taking plenty of time, taking lots of shots, and providing appropriate background options are all important to discovering beauty and character and capturing images people love. INDUSTRIAL AND CIVIL
I have documented large-scale civil and industrial infrastructure including mining infrastructure; cranes and construction machinery; industrial plant and machinery; warehouses; ships and shipping infrastructure; roads and transport infrastructure; data facilities; electrical cabling and systems; agricultural facilities; and people at work in these environments. This is specialised work which requires a keen eye for artful angles to produce surprising and spectacular images. Regional mobility and experience working in remote areas; a License to Perform High Risk Work; a License to Operate an Elevated Work Platform; an Advanced Rigger License; and a C6 Crane Operator License are all important elements which allow me to access these sites safely and professionally. AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Using all manner of Elevated Work Platforms, from a small electrical scissor-lift to a 40-foot boom lift, or a door-less Robinson 44 helicopter, I can capture large panoramic images, and flat, to scale photography for clients including residential and commercial developers, civil construction firms, mining companies, government, and public utility companies. DILAPIDATION REPORTING
Dilapidation reports are an essential tool to enable construction companies to manage the risk of false attribution of damage to other buildings or public infrastructure, and give developers and architects peace of mind. Accurate reporting before the commencement of the job is critical, especially in high density or heritage areas. This is a specialist area for me, and I have surveyed and reported on some of Perth’s most historic buildings; multiple high-rise apartment and office complexes; hotels; large areas of single dwelling houses; and roads and building site entry points (up to 10,000 images in one report). My well-trained eye for detail and a knowledge of construction and demolition are essential in gathering accurate and appropriate evidence in these circumstances. My comprehensive dilapidation reports and building surveys can include:
♣ Affected resident/tenant/owner letter distribution and door-knocking;
♣ A complete set of high-resolution images of all cracks and damage, photographed grammatically (to a consistent scale for measurement purposes);
♣ Full descriptions of all cracks and damage and their measurements and locations;
♣ Urgent risk alerts;
♣ Electronic and archival quality hardcopy presentation options; and
♣ Signed report approval by building owners.
