LIFE UPDATE:
I know I’m a little late on the New Years post, but it’s because December has been my busiest month yet, and I needed some time to gather my thoughts and figure out what I wanted to say.
2023 was probably the most challenging, yet most rewarding year of my life so far.
Deciding to build a house, move house, travel and get married within the first 6 months was probably the craziest thing I could've done, and in the mean time figure out for myself where I’m actually going with my career and passion as a photographer.
I got into shooting music events 10 years ago, and always thought this is what I want to do, this is what I’m good at. However as the years went on I started to realise the toll it took on me mentally and physically.
I will forever be grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given, the places it’s taken me, the people I’ve met and worked with along the way, and all the love and support I received from you all, but I need to start putting myself first, and that starts with a better work/life balance.
So I’m taking this opportunity to announce that as of this year I’ll be taking a massive step back from shooting music events.
Music photography will always have a massive place in my heart, and you might still see me once in a while shooting a festival or working with artists directly.
Instead I’ll be focusing my efforts in real estate photography and videography, and in creating content for corporate and commercial businesses. As well as music production for my own personal music as KAMIKAZEE, and in the duo myself and Joshua AKA SanjayMusic have started together, of which I’m incredibly excited to start sharing more details and our music soon.
There is more than one reason why I’m taking a step back from events, and it is something I want to bring to light in the future. A lot of that has to do with how we are treated in the field. But all I’m going to say for now, is that when you see a photographer or videographer at an event, please treat them with the same amount of respect as you would any other staff member, or the same way you would like to be treated yourself. Remember, we are all human, and we are just doing our job.
2024 is shaping up to be a massive year that I’m incredibly excited for, and I wish all the best and success for all of you this year xx
To sign off, I decided to release a little track I made late last year which I teased on the KAMIKAZEE Instagram. Enjoy!
