PSA ANNOUNCEMENT

Hey guys for the moment sadly I won't be using this page for any of my posts. Sadly when I got h***ked about 8 months ago this page was taken over by some a-hole which I am unable to get back.

So I have started a new page MILLS Photographer which I will be posting from now on. I am keeping it alive in the hope I one day may get it back. But feel free to go and give my other page a like if you want to keep up with anything I post.

I'm not one of those to really believe in fluffy notions like astrology etc but I really do believe shooting this wedding was meant to be.

Jemma and Kieron grew up in Collie as I did. Jemma's massive Italian family were like an extension of my own family. Her mum Mary was a teacher at my school. Mary’s aunty (Mrs C as I affectionately call her) was my mum's best friend. And over 30 years ago my mum and I played cupid in getting Jemma's mum and dad, (Mary and Mark) together. I was 10 years old, I remember going to their wedding.

To return back to a place I grew up in for work felt like I’d come full circle. To see people I had not seen in years who adored my mum, to spend time with Jemma and Kieron, the next generation who are beautiful old souls, was so incredibly joyful and intensely emotional. It was like dancing through my childhood once again. It was also like spending a night with my mum.

I’m forever grateful.

A big shout out to all the talented vendors especially the ones who turned the Miners Institute (I can’t tell you how much time I spent in this hall as a kid) into a beauty for the night.

Elle and Andrew married in the city with the reception at The Royal. This was in the karaoke room. I wanted to take those velvet couches home. Such a good day, these two were a hoot.

Showing my age here but I've known Jas since she was born. She's the granddaughter of my mum's best friend. Mrs C as I affectionately call her is like a second mum to me. I spent half my childhood at her house. Her son (Jas dad) used to lock me out of the house to torment me.

I'm a bit late to the party as usual but I just wanted to post about a recent exhibition. I know many of you have already been bombarded with so many posts, but I had to acknowledge it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over a week ago we launched 'I've got questions' an exhibition for by . Working on this exhibition as an exhibitor and an organiser was so exciting. I learned a tonne and would do it again in a flash. To do all this work and then launch to a crowd of over 300 people blew us all away. Apologies to all the friends I didn't personally invite. Got so bloody caught up in it all, I hardly invited any of my own friends.

For those that couldn't attend here is the synopsis of my project along with my final pieces.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
'Parenthood can be a tricky beast to navigate. Nothing more makes you aware of this than when that school bell rings and they are once again under your watch. It feels like a military operation to fit in after school activities, homework, playdates, cooking dinner and tidying up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This project explores what it looks like in other households as I was struggling with my own and I wanted to know if people were feeling as overwhelmed and stressed as I was. I was curious to see how this time worked for other families? In particular, how did other mothers feel during this general chaos?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want the viewer to step inside the world of families at one of the busiest times of their day. To show the reality of what it is vs what families are willing to share. It’s vulnerability at its best.'

I really hope to continue this project, it feels so right.
