Just like that my baby is FIVE.

I’ve been a mama for five years. The love of my life has been a daddy for five years.

It’s been five years and 8 months since our heart wrenching IVF process finally took us to that elusive big fat positive.

So much has changed in the last five years. So much of it has been scary, and stressful. There have been many a moment when I had no idea what I was doing. When I thought this is so hard, surely it’s not supposed to be this hard, maybe it’s my fault that it’s so hard.

But I know it’s not - I’m raising firecracker that’s going to change the world and I wouldn’t change her for the world.

I was thrilled to be able to get out and shoot again last week! Especially this gorgeous family, I mean does it get any cuter?!

I tell stories. When my families invite me to photograph them more than once and keep telling their story my heart just bursts with joy.

I am really really ridiculously excited to be seeing these little people again next week (and their wonderful parents). I feel invested in my clients families and watching them grow is so much fun, in the same way I love to see my nieces and nephews grow.

She’s the reason I took my love of photography to the next level. The reason I can unapologetically call myself a photographer and an artist.

As soon as I saw her changing day by day before my eyes I knew I needed to dust off the DSLR and start documenting her so I don’t ever forget a phase, an expression, a moment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That entry level DSLR has since been upgraded to a “real” camera and some serious lenses, and the Canon Rebel has fallen into her eager little hands.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love that she loves to “take a picture” just like me. I hope I can give her the gift of seeing the beauty everywhere she goes.

I love how this mama is mid giggle, dad is gazing at her with all the love in the world and baby girl is wriggling to get down and play in the grass.

Hi there! I’m jumping into 2020 with some creative projects, the first of which is a self portrait each week.
Being on the other side of the lens is definitely confronting so I’m easing in slowly by hiding behind my camera, which fit in perfectly with this week’s theme of reflection.
As well as the obvious literal reflection, I’m also reflecting on how powerful and important it is to exist in photos - especially as a mother.
We work so damn hard to give our little ones the best start to life, sacrificing much of ourselves along the way.
It’s so precious to have photographs of ourselves to tell our story.
We were here too.
I was here too.
