The real connection at a wedding
rarely happens in the planned moments.

It lives in the in-between.

The soft pause between one moment and the next.
The laugh that slips out unexpectedly.
The way they look at each other
when they forget everyone else is around.

Every couple I photograph
starts the same way.

A little stiff.
Not quite sure what to do with their hands.
Laughing at themselves for feeling awkward.

That’s completely normal.
I’ve never had a couple who didn’t feel it.

What I can tell you is this:
it doesn’t last long.

By the time we’ve walked a little
and I’ve given them something to do,
they’ve forgotten the camera is there.

That’s when the real photographs happen.

We start reading the faces.

Not just the couple’s —
But the ones behind them.

The parent who has been in every chapter.
The friend who was there
before this relationship was even a thought.
The grandparent in the second row
who has been waiting
longer than anyone in the room.

They didn’t come to be photographed.
But their presence is part of the story.

We never forget to photograph them.

to move between locations
during a session.

It’s not just for the variety of
backgrounds.

It’s because something happens
when you start moving.

The walk between places.
The car ride.
The time in-between that
nobody is being photographed.

By the time you arrive somewhere new,
you’ve forgotten you’re doing a photoshoot.

You’re just going somewhere together.
That’s when the session changes.
