Even the most common and seemingly simple spiders can be hauntingly beautiful up close, this girl was nice enough to sit still for me to take a 117 photo stack. Hortophora biapicata.

I'm in the process of writing a book on macro photography and need test readers to give feedback. PM us on instagram if you would like a copy of the first draft .Imaging.

Competition! Win this 36 inch print by just sharing and liking this post!

This is the only print that will ever be released of this photo, it's a 112 photo stack of a Hortophora biapicata from Western Australia and im giving it away for free to a follower of Obsidian Imaging on facebook and all you have to do is share the post. Make sure your privacy settings on the share are public otherwise i wont be able to see that you've shared the post and make sure that you've liked the page or it won't count!

Getting your friends to share this post to have multiple entries is also allowed!

Facebook quality photos of the print really don't do it justice it's gorgeous up close and absolutely massive!

I've sent prints to Croatia before and it took 7 months to arrive so unfortunately the competition will only be eligible for those in Australia.

I've made the jump from Canon to Olympus and couldn't be happier with the results. Unfortunately my hard drive died around a month ago and I still need to have a data forensic analyst fix it until I have my library of photos back. Between these two things I've had to be absent for a little while but I'm back now and more inspired than ever to work on macro photography.

This is on my new camera the Olympus OMD EM1 MK3 with the 60mm lens, a raynox dcr250 attached on the end and a cygnustech diffuser. I used the 5th bracketing mode for a handheld stack of around 80 photos, compiled the stack in helicon and edited in lightroom.

I drove 380 km over the weekend with the laowa 100mm and found some awesome spiders including this quite unique colour form of an Eriophora species orb weaver. I love the rule of thirds on this shot.

I drove 90 kms to photo invertebrates at 3am and it's pretty ironic that my favourite of the night was this really common hoverfly but that morning dew really makes her eyes pop. Laowa by Venus Optics

Western Australia is famous for its beautiful jumping spiders and today after 5 years of studying spiders I finally photographed them. I had missed their season the last 2 years of having a macro lens because they're usually on the coast and are absolutely miniscule. These guys are less than 5mm.

To everyone that has found me from video recently thank you so much for the support. The photo print that I sent Petko actually took just under 6 months to get to from and I thought it had been lost in the post so when I woke up with over 100 fresh new followers confused was an understatement.

For your troubles here's an extremely rare from .
