The internet makes it feel like every dog needs to be social, friendly, perfectly obedient and happy to say hello to everyone they meet.
The truth? They don’t.
The more time I spend around dogs through photography and training, the more I realise that so many „problems“ are actually just dogs being dogs.
Your dog doesn’t have to love every person.
Your dog doesn’t have to play with every dog.
Your dog is allowed to have boundaries, preferences and days where they simply want space.
Being a good dog owner isn’t about creating a perfect dog. It’s about learning to understand the dog in front of you and giving them what they need, not what the world expects from them.
If you have a reactive dog, a shy dog or a dog that’s selective with other dogs, I hope this takes a little bit of pressure off your shoulders today.
You’re not failing because your dog isn’t everyone’s best friend.
Some of the happiest dogs I know have a very small circle.
