Our journey through Rila was only a half day trip because the actual destination on this leg was the holiday ski resort town of Bansko. Which is less of a ski resort during the summer and more of a sleepy hiking spot.

Veliko Tarnovo was our first Bulgarian destination, having started early morning from a rainy Bucharest morning. In fact we managed to sprint to nearby shops running over and underground to buy ourselves some delicious foods for our first of many lengthy travel days.

Today we said goodbye to Lady. Super sad day, she was a smart goof ball, independent but always needy for scratches, never got lost, super stubborn and always found herself questioning why she had to walk so far with her tiny little legs - so many walk protests! She was pretty awesome and I'm going to miss her loads. 😭😭😭

Hakodate is an actual gem in the north of Japan, on the island of Hokkaido, a harbour town with architectural influences from all over the world. I wish we'd have stayed longer!!

Sapporo on the northern island of Hokkaido was actually one of my favourite places. Great food, bit city feels, but much quieter and more relaxing. Lots of things to do, not enough time to do them... And of course home of Ramen.

Ueno, Tokyo. Known for its great parks, museums, galleries, shopping districts and zoo. It's a little island of green in an incredibly built up city of Tokyo. So that's we did, went to the shopping district and the Tokyo National Museum.

If I had to think of two words that always cheer me up, it would have to be joy and metropolis. So imagine my delight when I found out there was a place in Tokyo that took my two favourite words and created the video gaming theme park JOYPOLIS. I was ecstatic. That's the back story I just made up.
