The Grey Fantail is a small bird with an average length of 17cm (6.7 inches). The Grey Fantail's plumage, predominantly grey with white and dark facial markings, provides effective camouflage amongst foliage. Despite their diminutive size, these birds are formidable insectivores, catching insects mid-flight with impressive precision. Quite an amazing little bird to watch, and a little harder to photograph as they don't stay still for very long at all! I was happy to capture this photo with its beak open as it chirped away. 😁
