Thank you to .awards for naming me this years runner up / Silver award in the professional Fine Art category!
With thousands of images submitted across 64 countries - it’s very humbling to not only be named a finalist, but to take out second place with my series ‘paper wish.’
This series is very special to me - it was created a couple of years ago … from an idea that turned into something else and my little muse helped me bring it to life.
It’s funny because I entered this series into a competition when I created it & was extremely disheartened when it didn’t get the validation I expected. Even though I loved what I created and thought it was very special - these images have barely been looked at since that one bad review.
These same images that I now saw as a ‘long shot’ earlier this year and submitted them on a whim to possibly draw attention.
The lesson being - don’t let anyone define your work for you, and don’t let anyone dampen how much you love and connect with your art.
All art is extremely subjective and personal … only you need to sit with what you have created and find peace.
It feels like a lot of great things are happening at the moment, with my images being recognised and honoured in different awards and exhibitions.
I feel very humbled and also lucky to be having some amazing experiences in the art world - but I promise it’s not luck 😆. I have worked my absolute butt off this year - researching and refining my imagery, and each marked success comes from countless hours pouring over images, creating artist statements and really bringing about something special to each piece I represent.
So thank you for the love - and the likes and the continued support. Please don’t get sick of me just yet … I am hoping there’s much more to come ☺️🎉🙏🏼
