Bit late for
These awesome little ground frogs are Red-Crowned Toadlets (Pseudophryne australis), found recently in Brisbane Waters National Park, NSW.

They can be a difficult to find species, as they tend to spend most of their time well hidden under leaf litter, often around drainage lines. They are a threatened species, listed as vulnerable in NSW with their distribution limited to areas around the Sydney Basin, especially near Hawkesbury and Narrabeen sandstone outcrops. They have an awesome call that is 'squelchy', which I reckon sounds a bit like walking in a wet pair of thongs!

I don't normally post anything political on this page and even with a Federal Election tomorrow, I'll keep my opinions to myself. So instead, here's a shot of at a few weeks back telling the crowd what he thinks about the current government.

Make your vote count tomorrow, and try and vote for reasons that aren't entirely selfish. Think about which party will best support your electorate, and our nation going forward. Think about which party will support live music and the arts, and assist with the recovery of a sector that is vital to the Australian economy, but also our way of life and culture.

I had the absolute pleasure of watching at The Gum Ball festival last weekend.
These guys are gonna be big! It was sensational and one of the best sets I've ever seen, and a true Gumball special. The set was full of passion and energy, and it was clear to everyone there just how stoked these guys were to be on stage sharing their stories.

With all the recent rain, we've had a newcomer to the backyard.
Striped Marsh Frog (Limnodynastes peronii).

I've heard a male calling for a few weeks from a body of water in an unfinished drainage project, but haven't been able to see him. He must have got lucky cos there's now a multitude of ~2 week old tadpoles in the trench. Today, I finally found one, floating in the pooch's swimming pool. This shot was taken as I relocated it from the pool to the safety of the trench.
Apparently the tadpoles take 7-8 months to develop though so I may need to also relocate them to a new pond so I can finish the drainage!

Frogs have always been my favourite animal, and Red Eye Green Tree Frogs are the best of the bunch!
This little guy was found in an old water tank at Forest Tops campground in the Border Ranges National Park, with a few photo shy friends.

This little guy was only 15-20mm. The little things in life are so easily overlooked.

Gumball 2018 was another fantastic event put on by the talented crew at Dashville. I was privileged enough to shoot it again so here's a sneak peek of Gumball through my beer saturated lens.

Found this Red Necked Wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus) joey at work recently in the middle of the road trying to get back into it's dead mother's pouch.

If you hit any wildlife (particularly marsupials), there are a few things you should do:
1. Stop somewhere safe and check the condition of the struck animal. If it's alive, contact WIRES on 13 000 WIRES (1300 094 737) or take the animal to the nearest vet if safe to do so. If you work for a large company with environmental officers, they can usually help.
2. If the animal is dead, remove it from the road as far as possible. This makes it safer for other drivers and reduces the risk of further wildlife vehicle interactions.
3. If it's female and a marsupial/monotreme (eg kangaroo, wombat, echidna), check it's pouch for dependent young.

DO NOT KEEP DRIVING.
DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
DO NOT LEAVE A DEFENSELESS BABY TO DIE A SLOW DEATH.

You wouldn't leave someone's dog to die in the middle of the road so don't do it to our amazing native wildlife.

On a positive note, this little fella cleaned himself up and was given the all clear from the vet before being placed with a local wildlife carer.

Found this little common garden skink while at work a few months ago. Unfortunately, this was as far as he made it into the world. The egg was no more than 1cm in length.
