Today, in Australia, we take a moment to celebrate Motherhood. Mothers Day. A day that to many can bring a mountain of emotions. Whether you wake to a cuddle with your newborn after a very sleepless night, your toddler bringing you the sweetest art work designed with their tiny painted fingertips or a traced hand or a self portrait, to those who bring a warm cuppa and pancakes to you in bed as you enjoy a sleepy lie in, to those early risers who watch the sun pop its head over the horizon, to board games or beach swims, movie nights or dining at your favourite restaurant. Some Mothers take moments of peace, indulging in spa days or massages, a few hours of day snoozing to catch up on sleepless nights. Some Mothers celebrate with their family, their own Mums and Grandmas, listening to stories of years gone by. Others hold space for their Mum who no longer walks beside them, whose hands they don’t get to hold or who they no longer get to share this day with over tea and cake, but whose memory lives on forever and always. To Mothers who have suffered loss and cannot share this day with their own little love. Whatever this day means to you, I hope that you can find a moment to feel how special you are and how much you are loved. For me, my own Mum lives on the other side of the Earth and we haven’t shared a Mothers Day in way too many years, but I’m bless with two sweet children and a fur baby, who snuggle me tight and a husband who nurtures their love for showing me how loved I truly am. To me, today, I missed the presence of my own mum, but embraced the warmth of my own little family, here in a land down under, with breakfast in bed, a beach walk and last minute lunch at a fave little eatery and then snuggles on the lounge and for these moments I’m so truly grateful 💕
