Aurora Australis 22/3/2026 along with a visit from STEVE which is not a standard aurora it is Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement a rare purple arc sometimes seen with auroras, it happens slightly away from the main aurora zone, is caused by fast moving charged particles and heat flow, not the usual aurora mechanism
Often shows as:
A thin purple ribbon
Sometimes with green vertical streaks underneath.
