Mia Thomas Photography is now By Mia Fae.
Same photographer, same heart, new name.
I’ll still be photographing weddings, families, maternity and newborn stories across the South Coast, NSW — now under a name that feels more like the direction this little business is growing into

I wanted this brand to feel like muddy feet on the car floor, belly laughs during vows, love letters shoved in drawers, old polaroids, late night drives, childhood nostalgia and crying because the light looked pretty.

Something for the lovers, lunatics and daydreamers

dramatic? maybe.
true? absolutely.

She’s soft.
She’s emotional.
She’s slightly unhinged.

I can’t wait for you to meet her.

I think I’ve spent a long time trying to make my work fit neatly into a box.

Luxury.
Motherhood.
Weddings.
Editorial.
Family.
Art.

But honestly?
I think my work lives somewhere in the middle of all of it.

A little curated.
A little chaotic.
A little windswept and emotional.

Kind of like me

I think somewhere along the way, I started trying to make my work, and honestly myself, fit into something I’d already outgrown.

For years I’ve shown up online under the name Thomas.
A name that once fit a version of my life, but over time became something I no longer deeply connected to.

And while changing a business name might seem small from the outside, this rebrand has felt far bigger than logos or colours or fonts.

It’s felt like returning to myself.

Not the polished version.
Not the version trying to fit neatly into a box.
Not the version trying to be what she thought she should be.

Just… me.

Emotion.
Noise.
Windblown hair.
Kids interrupting the moment.
The chaos that makes life feel alive.

The photos people hold onto forever are rarely the perfect ones anyway.
They’re the ones that felt real.

This new chapter feels softer.
More honest.
More aligned with the person behind the camera and the art I’ve been creating all along.

Still intentional.
Still emotional.
Just finally under a name that feels like home.

The older I get, the less I care about perfect photos.

I want the blurry laugh.
The wind.
The kid halfway through a meltdown.
The in-between bits that feel like real life.

Beautifully documented chaos has kind of become my thing 💛

I’ve been quietly working on something that feels more, me 🌸
