little pub in Ouyen, just down the road from the bakery that serves a vanilla slice which then premier Jeff Kennett declared the best he’d ever eaten back in 1998. My review is that Kennett was a bit overly optimistic, but it still goes alright

The most devastating, heartbreaking week in Alice. It’s hard to put such a deeply tragic and awful story in to words, but my colleague, journalist Douglas Smith who I spent the week working with has done so with such care and consideration and somehow even manages to find the little fragments of humanity and good in the hopelessness of it all.
