You are a real one Shell, folks rally around you, they volunteer, give, donate, sponsor & support. You have good people around you because you are a total badass & have so much good in you. Folks dig that & want to support it, they want to support you. People are drawn to you because you are an extraordinary human being that does amazingly good things for people that truly need it. As much as I feel you dont need my input at all (this event sells out almost instantly which is amazing!) I love that this is a little something for you too. You work so incredibly hard on not only this event but many others, not to mention all of your travels and trecking to raise funds & all ON TOP OF your day job which also involves helping those in need and well, yeah, this one's for you, friend 🧡
Repost • Every year when May rolls around, amongst all the chaos of event planning, I find that my spirits are really lifted. There’s something so freakin’ special about the vibe that’s grown around over the past 16 years. The love people have for this event, the friendships, the laughs, the loyalty, the sponsors, the volunteers, the returning faces year after year… it honestly amazes me.
I often think about that that line from the movie Field of Dreams... “Build it and they will come.” But what’s been built here is so much more than just an annual event. It’s become a full-blown community.
One of the beautiful relationships that’s come from this journey is with Every year, lovely Mel donates an incredible prize and organises these ridiculously fun themed photo shoots as part of the promo. I get to dress up in the Divas theme, have a laugh and off we go… and it’s become one of my favourite traditions of the event. So naturally, with this year’s theme being Aussie… I’m turning up as the Aussie Sunshine. ☀️
