A nice close up of your child is something that you’ll treasure for as long as you live.
You’ll compare this photo to other photos of them taken years later, you’ll compare it to photos of their children and later it’ll be used to spot resemblance to their grandchildren 🧐
It’s a photo that you’ll always come back to and that’s why I’ll always include at least one closeup for each child.

I’m starting a series of informative posts in which I’ll try to answer the most frequently asked questions as well as address some things that you might not realise are important to turn a photoshoot from a daunting task into a great experience which results in beautiful and timeless photos.

Wardrobe 💥

It’s a big one.

✔️ coordinated colour scheme - whatever the colours, they should not clash. The best way to plan the entire thing is to take the item you definitely want to wear and work your way from there by finding complimenting clothing for everyone else.

✔️ comfortable and well fitting items are the go. You need to keep in mind that during the session you will be standing, sitting, walking, or even running and jumping if you’re up for it. You will probably be picking up your kids, throwing them up in the air and carrying them on your back. Wear something that doesn’t restrict your movements.

✔️ think about the setting. Beach backdrop looks fantastic with light and bright colours. Grassy and forest areas look great with earthy and denim tones.

✖️ avoid strong patterns (e.g. stripes), especially if it’s a top. Our eye is drawn to geometric patterns and strong contrast so it might dominate the photo.

✖️ avoid any writing on your clothes. Not only it takes away the attention from the main subject, the photo will also age a lot quicker.

✖️ avoid thongs or other super casual footwear. Either wear closed shoes or go barefoot. Colourful sneakers are a no-no as well.
