Well it's a wrap on my Groote Eylandt experience. The work was tough but the clinic staff were amazing and so supportive. The island was absolutely stunning and filled with natural wonders. I am so looking forward to showing you all my bird photos once I download them back in Nelson. Thanks to everyone who followed along. I am now in Darwin. Tomorrow I fly to Adelaide and then home sweet home on Sunday. Be great to be back in my own bed!

I stopped at Monkey Rock on the way to work at Umbakumba clinic today. You know me, before long I was striding through the bush to get closer (and yes I looked out for snakes). I found a cave at the base so went to look for Aboriginal art. What I found was the ceiling encrusted in what looked like shells but I think were the cocoons of mud wasps. What do you think ?

The sun is almost down on my time here. The last few days are always filled with weird food combinations as you eat up the leftovers, cleaning the house and laundry. I head out to the remote community of Umbakumba again today and we will see what it brings. Fingers crossed.
