I've been a little quiet lately, and I wanted to be open about why.
Over the past few weeks I've been battling a pretty nasty chest infection that has knocked me around far more than I expected. It's involved multiple rounds of antibiotics, steroids, frequent GP visits, and even a CT scan to try and work out exactly what's been going on in there.
To be completely honest, it's been scary. I've been struggling with my breathing, and given my history of chemotherapy, there has always been that worry in the back of my mind about whether there could be some lasting damage to my lungs. When you can't catch your breath properly, it's hard not to let your mind wander to worst-case scenarios.
I know Critter Cube has been closed longer than I would have liked, and I want to sincerely apologise to everyone who has been waiting patiently for appointments, orders, messages, and visits. Closing the doors was not a decision I took lightly, but I simply haven't been well enough to be there, physically or mentally. That last one is really hard to admit.
What has kept me going is the incredible love, kindness, patience, and support I've received from so many of you. Every message, check-in, and well-wish has meant more than you'll ever know. Running Critter Cube has always been about the community we've built together as much as my love of making things, of pets and accessories, of all our beloved animals, and I'm constantly reminded how lucky I am to have this wonderful little world around me.
All going well with my GP appointment on Monday 24th August, I'm hoping to reopen the studio on Tuesday 25th August. I am genuinely missing all of you - the visits, the chats, the cuddles, the chaos, and all the wonderful animals that come through our doors. My mental health is better for all of you and I'm eternally grateful.
Thank you for sticking by me while I focus on getting healthy again. I can't wait to see everyone soon.
