For 82-year-old Bob Symons, slow photography is good fun.
The patience, the waiting and the unpredictability are all part of the process — and that process is never exactly the same. Each picture is a one-off.
“The more mistakes you make, the better,” Bob says. “Sometimes you think, Oh no, I’ve ruined it, and then when you actually look at it, Ooh, this is really good.”
There’s no instant gratification with pinhole photography. There’s plenty of guesswork, but for Bob, that’s exactly what makes it so satisfying.
